On October 22, the Soane Foundation hosted the 2024 Soane Honors Awards at the iconic University Club of New York — a memorable evening celebrating the legacy of the visionary English architect, John Soane. This year’s distinguished honorees, renowned architect Jeanne Gang and celebrated design journalist Hamish Bowles, were recognized for their exceptional contributions to the fields of architecture and design.
Enjoy the magic of this unforgettable night by watching the video below, and help us continue spreading the word about Soane:
About the 2024 Soane Honorees:
Hamish Bowles is internationally recognized as one of the most respected authorities on fashion and design. He is both Creative Director at Large at The World of Interiors and Global Editor at Large for Vogue magazine, overseeing all features and covering both contemporary and historic style and culture. Hamish has an extensive private collection of historic haute couture, and has acted as creative consultant and curator for a number of critically acclaimed exhibitions including “Jacqueline Kennedy: The White House Years” at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, “House Style: Five Centuries of Fashion at Chatsworth,” “Balenciaga: Spanish Master,” and, most lately “India in Fashion: The Impact of Indian Dress and Textiles on the Fashionable Imagination” in 2023.
Jeanne Gang, FAIA, FRIBA, is the founding partner of international architecture and urban design practice at Studio Gang. Known for a distinctive design approach that expands beyond architecture’s conventional boundaries, she creates striking places that strengthen connections between people, their communities, and nature. Her diverse portfolioacross the Americas and Europe includes the Gilder Center at the American Museum of Natural History; the University of Chicago’s new hub for scholarship and cultural exchange in Paris; a new United States Embassy in Brazil; and an expansion of the Clinton Presidential Center. A MacArthur Fellow and a Professor in Practice at the Harvard Graduate School of Design, Jeanne has been named one of TIME Magazine’s most influential people in the world.
Based in New York City, the Foundation supports Sir John Soane’s Museum in London and offers a rich and growing array of lectures, travel opportunities, and fellowships for young scholars to study the Museum and its collections.
We are most grateful for your friendship and generosity.
Every year the Soane Foundation celebrates Sir John Soane’s singular contributions as an architect and educator by bestowing The Soane Honors on present-day innovators, leaders, and visionaries in the fields of architecture, design, urban planning, preservation, and philanthropy at a celebratory gala dinner in an architecturally significant venue in New York City. Honors proceeds benefit Sir John Soane’s Museum Foundation and ultimately the Soane Museum in London.
